Summary: The Technical Underwriting Assistant is primarily responsible for the data processing of underwriting contracts and maintenance of underwriting data.


Essential Duties:


- Data entry of all treaty and facultative renewals and new business


- Maintains treaty files, issues provisional notice of cancellation, reviews slips, binders, closing summaries and wordings.


- Data processing with Excel spreadsheets, ranging from simple data entry work to creating new spreadsheets, manipulating and/or modifying existing spreadsheets, be able to do numerical operations within Excel spreadsheets to assist in pricing and other statistical support work.


- All other Underwriting Department and Back Office or other related duties as assigned including front desk reception duties.

Job Requirements:


- Knowledge of insurance/reinsurance, including the basic types of primary policies, treaty types and formats


- Advanced Excel knowledge and general ease working with other software as required


- Very good accuracy and attention to detail is required


- Good interpersonal skills with the ability to work with others in a small team


- Must be highly organized with the ability to handle multiple tasks to meet tight deadlines


- Very good written and verbal communication skills


- Review and respond to all requests on a timely basis.


Education/Experience:


- High School Diploma


- Minimum of 3 years of experience working in a similar position in the reinsurance/insurance industry


- Other data entry experience obtained in the financial services industry will be considered
